Last year's winner of the Young Voices Publication Award for 2012 was Joe Tallarigo with his book of poetry The First Quarter: A Songwriter's Dream. Endearing and romantic, the book discusses the hurtles of first love, family, highschool, college, and growing up.
Joe Tallarigo is a Cincinnati native. He grew up in Price Hill. As a sophomore in high school, Joe began writing song lyrics. His early works were influenced by country music legends Hank Williams and George Strait. From 2004, his writing took a more personal turn, as he emulated the introspective styles of Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney. Tallarigo pursued his art through high school and afterward while working in early childhood education. Currently, he is composing songs for his second book, Life Goes On. Tallarigo's book is selling in book stores across Ohio and Northern Kentucky, as well as selling on Amazon with an e-book option.
